Prospective Students

If you are interested in attending Mastbaum, you must fit basic criteria and then enroll in the lottery with The Office of Student Placement. It is encouraged that you also interview before choosing any charter school.

Admissions Criteria

In order to enroll at Mastbaum, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Provide 7th Grade report card showing 10 or less absences, and less than 5 days late

  2. Have an interest in attending a vocational school

  3. Earned at least a C in major subjects (English, Math, Social Studies, and Science)

  4. Have good behavior

Interview

Any student that fits the criteria is invited to an interview.  The interview is an opportunity for students to determine if Mastbaum is a “good fit” for their high school experience. It should be noted that students are placed in the lottery regardless of attending the interview, if they fit the criteria.

The Lottery

The office of Student Placement randomly chooses students to attend Mastbaum based on the students that were placed in the lottery. Students are notified of school approval with a “multi-accept” letter from Student Placement. The student along with their parent chooses a school that accepted the student from the “multi-accept” letter.  Students who choose Mastbaum for their high school will be notified by The Office of Student Placement, in the spring of their 8th grade school year.

Not Selected for Mastbaum?

It is not until our enrollment numbers are known, usually in early spring, if there are any spaces available for the up-coming school year. However, there is a wait list of students interested in attending Mastbaum. If/when spaces become available parents are contacted.
